The portrait of a family in Sofia during the summer, which may be their last one together: daughter Mila dreams of a life as a pianist and nervously prepares for an important audition abroad. Her brother Niki hides his fear of losing her behind droll absurdities. And their father is too preoccupied with his own life to fully deal with his family. Director Ilian Metev, who some five years ago won a plethora of awards for his documentary SOFIA’S LAST AMBULANCE, repeats the trick with his fiction debut, also a Bulgarian-German co-production, winning the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Festival. His images are both ultra-realistic and artistic at the same time, while he paints a deeply moving picture of everyday life scenes that nonetheless decide over entire lives.
