Flowers

TV-Series | UK 2016 | 2x30' (6x30') | Englisch OV

Happy families are all alike, while each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way, as Tolstoy aptly said. The incomparable Flowers family is certainly a case in point. Whereas children’s book author Maurice is depressive, his wife, music teacher Deborah, is obsessively trying to spread a happy mood, and the kids Amy and Donald are both unhappily in love with the girl next door. All the while, Grandma Hattie suffers from dementia and lives in her own world. Several members of this family are suicidal. Dare it be said that only the British can work this constellation into one of the most eccentric and fun-niest comedy series in recent years. Anyone who likes Roald Dahl, Wes Anderson and HAROLD AND MAUDE will also take delight in FLOWERS. At the age of merely 29, Will Sharpe is the man behind this series. He wrote and directed the screenplay for his TV debut, and also starred in it in the role of Illustrator Shun.
