It’s damn funny to see the dream factory turn into a nightmare – at least for the audience of the sitcom, EPISODES. The show revolves around Sean and Beverly Lincoln, who are both a married couple and writing partners. Drawn by the lure of money and glamour, the two Brits are in Hollywood to pen a US remake of their homegrown hit series, LYMAN’S BOYS. However, they soon realize they will only succeed in California if they are willing to sell their souls and muster considerable frustration tolerance. For it’s not long before the network boss replaces the British lead with FRIENDS star Matt LeBlanc, then changes the title and, soon enough, the whole premise of the series. The lead actor also makes requests that cannot be disregarded: the presence of women characters in the script that do not fall in love with him strikes him as unfathomable. The series slips from the Lincolns’ hands. A scathing satire about transatlantic cultural differences and the prevalence of egomania in show business.
