Das große Comeback

TV-Movie | DE 2010 | 88' | OV

His fans have given him up, as has his record company: former pop singer Hansi Haller has hit rock bottom. Just like Ute Meier-Thiel: The constantly inebriated über-bitch of a small TV station gets replaced by a younger model. Now she desperately needs an even more voyeuristic reality format in order to get back on top. When she discovers Hansi Haller and finds out about the small village of  Bad Böhlen, where his last die-hard fans reside, she can already see her next docutainment show: Germany’s most unsuccessful singer. This showbiz satire, featuring a high-class cast with Uwe Ochsenknecht and Andrea Sawatzki (with cameos by German music legends Helmut Zerlett and Konstantin Wecker) and directed by Tomy Wigand, enjoys its darkly grotesque moments and even ventures into slapstick. It doesn’t pull any punches against tabloid TV creating their own conflicts before filming them or against the demented pop star culture. Ochsenknecht is great as the blonde blow-dried hairdo, but the scene-stealing is once again done by the magnificent Sawatzki, whose slutty TV priss likes to have one over the eight – or more than one, indeed.
