Twin Peaks

TV-Series | USA 1990 | 1x94' | OV

The dead body of High School beauty Laura Palmer is washed onto shore near her home town of Twin Peaks. The decidedly weird FBI agent Cooper takes on the case with the help of a not always very professional local police force under the supervision of Sheriff Trueman. They find not only dark corners in Laura’s past but get tangled up in intrigues about lumber mills, the hotel business and escort services. Once again evil looms in small town America: In his pilot to the cult series TWIN PEAKS Lynch’s mixture of rural life and sexual violence can be seen clearer than anywhere else. His recipe of mixing together elements of Soap Opera, absurd theatre and horror created his greatest mainstream success: Dead Laura Palmer looked down from magazine covers, all the characters were just as funny caricatures as they were threatening distortions, and Coopers strange methods could be endlessly discussed. With this legendary mystery series Lynch revolutionized the genre and paved the way for a whole generation of modern TV programmes, from X-FILES and NORTHERN EXPOSURE right up to LOST.
